Theodosian Code
Law put into place during Roman Empire, that made Christianity the official religion of the Empire and limited activity of all other religions specifically Jews, who were limited in terms of what they could do and positions they could hold.
Fourth Lateran Council
13th Century laws that forced Jews to wear specific clothing/symbols that showed that they were Jewish. Also banned them from public office.
Expulsion from England
13th Century England forced Jews to leave. British monarchy was struggling financially and blamed it on Jews as they were highly represented in the banking sector
Expulsion from Spain
15th century Jews were forced to leave Spain. Even though Spain had a seemingly good relationship with the Jewish people, as Spain became a more religious country they forced the Jews to leave.
Nuremberg Laws
Laws put into place that defined the status of Jews based on their blood, and withdrew citizenship from those that did not meet the criteria. Also barred Jews from having sexual relations with other races
Rassenschande
Part of the nuremberg laws. “defilement against aryan blood”. Law that made it illegal for Aryan Germans to have sexual relations with Jews.
Aryanization
Forcing Jewish business owners to transfer their property/businesses to German citizens. Was happening throughout the time between WWI and WWII. Started off as voluntary but later they were forced to give up their properties.
