Gender Inequality
A social condition where one gender is privileged over another.
Ascription
The assignment of individuals to social categories based on qualities beyond their control.

Global Gender Gap Index Framework
A measure evaluating gender inequality across four subindices: Economic Participation, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment.
Economic Participation and Opportunity

Health and Survival
Subindex focusing on sex ratio at birth and healthy life expectancy.
Educational Attainment
Subindex measuring literacy rates and school enrollment at various levels.
Political Empowerment
Subindex assessing the representation of genders in political decision-making positions.
Human Trafficking
The illegal trade of humans for purposes such as forced labor or sexual exploitation.
Risk Factors in Trafficking
Conditions that increase the likelihood of individuals becoming victims of trafficking, such as poverty and gender inequality.
Child Marriage
A formal marriage or informal union before the age of 18, often associated with gender inequality.
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
Cultural practice involving the removal of external female genitalia, often conducted on girls between infancy and age 15.
LGBTQ+ Rights
Rights pertaining to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning individuals, and others identifying outside heteronormative categories.
Gender Parity
A measure of equality between genders, typically expressed as a score from 0 to 1 or as a percentage.
