How to name nonmetal+nonmetal?
Add prefix to both elements but for the second nonmetal add the suffix -ide
How to name covalent compounds?
Write the full name of the cation (positive ion) and the anion (negative ion) is listed second with the suffix -ide. If a transitional metal a Roman numeral is included after the cation name to indicate the oxidation of the metal.
How to name compound polyatomics?
Write the full name of the cation and full name of the anion. Use parentheses when increasing the amount of polyatomic to balance

Hydro- is added to the root of the element and the suffix -ic is added to the end of the word, acid is added at the end of the compound.

The appropriate ending is added to the root of polyatomic ion name. Polyatomic ending in -ate —> change ending to -ic acid. Polyatomic ending in -ite —> change ending to -out acid
