Reference Point
A fixed point used to describe the position of an object.
Distance
The total length covered by a moving object, has no direction.
Displacement
The shortest distance between two points, has both magnitude and direction.
Magnitude
The size or extent of a physical quantity.
Scalar Quantity
A quantity that has only magnitude, e.g., time, distance.
Vector Quantity
A quantity that has both magnitude and direction, e.g., velocity, force.
Speed
The rate of change of distance, measured in units like km/h.
Average Speed
Total distance travelled divided by total time taken.
Uniform Motion
When an object covers equal distances in equal intervals of time.
Non-Uniform Motion
When an object covers unequal distances in equal intervals of time.
Velocity
The rate of change of displacement, a vector quantity.
Instantaneous Velocity
The velocity of an object at a particular moment in time.
Acceleration
The rate of change of velocity, also a vector quantity.
Distance-Time Graph
A graph showing the change in position of an object with respect to time.
Velocity-Time Graph
A graph showing the change in velocity with respect to time.
Equations of Motion
Three equations used to describe the motion of an object with uniform acceleration.
Uniform Circular Motion
Motion in a circular path at a constant speed.
