Trust vs Mistrust
Infancy (0-1 year)

Description: Trust (or mistrust) that basic needs, such as nourishment and affection, will be met.
Autonomy vs Shame/Doubt
Early childhood (1-3 years)

Description: Develop a sense of independence, making decisions.
Initiative vs Guilt
Play age (3-6 years)
Virtue: Purpose
Description: Take initiative/ action on some activities - may develop guilt when unsuccessful or boundaries are overstepped.

School age (7-11 years)
Virtue: Competence
Description: Develop self-confidence in abilities when competent or sense of inferiority when not.

Adolescence (12-18 years)

Description: Experiment with and develop identity and roles.
