Paradox

Personification

Giving a human quality or characteristic to something not human.

Ambiguity

A word or expression that can be understood in two or more possible ways.

Tone

The author's attitude towards a subject or audience.

Metaphor

Comparing two things without using the words "like" or "as."

Simile

Comparing two things using "like" or "as."

Assonance

When words in a sentence or phrase repeat the same vowel sound.

Alliteration

The repetition of the same letter or sound in a series of words that are close together.

Onomatopoeia

The naming of a thing or action by imitation of natural sounds.
