Summarise the Korean war (4)
US- syngman rhee, south

The US were being absolutely trampled when 100,000 northern troops in in June 1950, being pushed down to Busan in September 1950. However, UN intervention allowed the US to make a comeback and push the northern troops up to the Chinese border. Eventually in 1953 the border returned to virtually the same position.
It was costly, practically useless and made Truman's approval rating drop to 22% during his final year in office
