Amendments I need to know

1st Amendment

Protects freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.

2nd Amendment

Right to bear arms.

4th Amendment

Protects against unreasonable searches and seizures; requires warrants based on probable cause.

5th Amendment

Right to due process, no double jeopardy, no self-incrimination, just compensation for eminent domain.

6th Amendment

Right to a fair and speedy trial, right to counsel, right to confront witnesses.

8th Amendment

Prohibits cruel and unusual punishment and excessive bail/fines.

9th Amendment

Declares that rights not explicitly listed in the Constitution are still protected.

10th Amendment

Powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states or the people.

13th Amendment

Abolished slavery.

14th Amendment

Defines citizenship; includes the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses.

15th Amendment

Prohibits denying the right to vote based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

19th Amendment

Grants women the right to vote (prohibits voting restrictions based on sex).
