Absolute threshold
The minimum amount of stimulation needed for a person to detect a stimulus 50% of the time
Method of constant stimuli
range of stimuli (from well below to well above threshold) are presented in randomized order. (forced choice of yes or no) - Determine which intensity level has 50% detection
Method of limits
Range of stimuli (from well below to well above threshold) are presented in ascending or descending order (forced choice of yes or no) - Average the crossover points
Method of adjustment
Same as method of limits except the participant has control over the stimulus (lots of variability which means less accurate measure)
