compulsory heterosexuality
committed to the norm of being heterosexual (high commitment, no exploration)
active exploration
actively exploring one’s options for sexuality (high exploration, no commitment)
diffusion
lack of both exploration and commitment to a sexuality
deepening and commitment
heading towards commitment to a sexuality, can be because of compulsory heterosexuality or exploration
synthesis
occurs after deepening and commitment, it is your overall sexual concept (your identity, opinions of others identities)
