Working Drawings

A working drawing where the details and assembly of a mechanism appear on the same print.

Assembly Drawing

One type of working drawing that shows where and how the parts described in the detail drawings fit into the complete assembly of the product.

A drawing frequently used on large or complicated products and showing the assembly of a small portion or section of the complete product. Breaks down

Specialized Drawing

A drawing made when a product is produced in quantity. It shows separate detail drawing usually prepared for each specific manufacturing process.

Erection Drawing

A specialized drawing including all of the detail information needed to complete a specific process or group of processes on a part(buildings, bridges, towers).

Process Drawing

A specialized drawing that includes all of the detail information needed to complete a specific process or group of processes on a part(heat treating).

Parts list

Information on a print that includes all of the parts required in the manufacture of a product. Also included is a description of each part, the quantity of each part needed per assembly, part number, and the number of the drawing used to manufacture each part. Also called a material list, schedule of parts, or bill of materials.

Balloons

Sometimes added to a print to identify each component of a part. Consists of a divided circle with an attached line leading to the component. The item number from the parts list and the quantity needed are written in the circle. Conveys a certain detail.
