What is the purpose of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)?
To diagnose obstructive jaundice, remove CBD stones, and place stents in biliary and pancreatic ducts.

Dye is injected for radiographic visualization of the CBD and pancreatic duct.

Patients should be NPO for 8 hours and provide informed consent.

Patients must remain still for 1-2 hours.

What symptoms should be assessed for after an ERCP procedure?
Abdominal pain, tenderness, guarding, signs and symptoms of pancreatitis such as nausea, vomiting, and decreased bowel sounds.
