Zoonosis
An infection or infectious disease transmissible under natural conditions from vertebrate animals to humans.
Vector-Borne Disease
A disease transmitted by vectors, such as insects, that carry pathogens from one host to another.
Arthropod Vector
An insect or any living carrier that transports an infectious agent from an infected individual or its wastes to a susceptible individual.
Prions
Infectious agents composed of protein, which can cause neurodegenerative diseases.
Malaria
A vector-borne disease caused by Plasmodium parasites, transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes, and characterized by fever and flu-like symptoms.
Dengue Fever
A mosquito-borne viral infection causing fever, rash, and muscle and joint pain.
Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome
A severe respiratory disease transmitted by aerosolized droppings and urine of infected rodents.
Ebola Virus Disease
A severe illness caused by the Ebola virus, characterized by high mortality rates and associated with hemorrhagic fever.
Tick-Borne Illness
Diseases transmitted by ticks, such as Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
Public Health Surveillance
Monitoring of disease occurrence to inform public health actions and control measures.
