Biomass
Organic materials made from living organisms, such as plants and animals, commonly used for energy.
Gasification of biomass
The process of converting biomass into a gas, known as synthetic natural gas, which contains methane.
Fermentation
A biological process that converts organic materials into methane, using bacteria, often derived from livestock manure.
Pyrolysis
A thermal decomposition of biomass without oxygen, used to produce charcoal-like products with high energy density.
Photosynthesis
The process by which plants convert solar energy into chemical energy in the form of carbohydrates.
Combustion
A process where biomass is burned to generate heat or electricity.
Biogas
A type of biofuel derived from the fermentation of biodegradable materials, primarily methane and carbon dioxide.
Bioethanol
A biofuel produced through the fermentation of sugar and starch crops, blended with gasoline for fuel.
Briquetting
A compaction technology that densifies agro residues into compact pieces for efficient energy use.
Digestion
The natural process by which bacteria break down decaying organic matter, producing gases like methane.
