Major Depressive Disorder
≥5 symptoms. Present most of the day, nearly every day ≥2 weeks. Causes significant distress/impairment
Depressive disorder with Melancholic Features
Anhedonia- Early awakening, weight loss
Depressive disorder with Mixed Features → ≥3 manic symptoms
Depressive disorder with Atypical Features
Mood reactivity ↑ appetite or hypersomnia
Antidepressant response
30–50% do not respond to first antidepressant
Mania
Elevated mood, Increased energy/activity
Hypomania
Milder form of mania, May include delusions/hallucinations, Possible seasonal pattern, Periods of normalcy
Bipolar I
Full manic or mixed episode. May have depression
Bipolar II
Major depression + hypomania. No full mania
Cyclothymic Disorder
≥2 years. Chronic mood disturbance. Hypomania + mild depression
Rapid Cycling
≥4 episodes/year
