• has the isthmus

• contains follicles that store thyroglobulin, used to make thyroxine

  • parafollicular cells are scattered betw. follicles and secrete calcitonin

calcitonin

• responsible for regulating Ca²⁺

• if Ca lvls are high, parathyroid lowers the Ca in bloodstream

• if Ca is LOW, it will dig out Ca of the bone so blood can be at homeostasis

increased basal metabolic rate (daily function capacity is inc)

heart

increased heart rate, inc. force of contraction, inc cardiac output

increased lipolysis (break down of lipids for energy)
