In my opinion the journey of life is the theme of this Poem

Dar liom, is é turas an tsaol téama an dáin seo

The moon is a guiding star and the moon helps her on her personal journey

Is realta eolais í an ghealach agus cabhríonn an ghealach lei a bealach a aimsui ar a turas peasanta

This theme is seen when the poet says "my friend on the road on a journey in the dark"

Feictear an téama seo sa dán nuair a deireannan file "mo chara ar an bhothar ar turas sa dhorchas"

The poet uses personification and metaphor to express the theme

Usáideann an file pearsantu agus meafar chun an téama a chur in iúl

Love is a strong emotion in this poem
