descriptive statistics
numbers that are used to summarize and describe a set of data you've collected in a study
inferential statistics
help a researcher to make inferences from the descriptive data in order to decide if it can also be applied to a population
p-value
when there is less than a 5% chance that the result could've happened by chance, we have confidence in our sample (it's how we measure this!)
