Fixed Length Subnet Masking (FLSM)
A network configuration method where a network address block is divided into subnets, each with the same number of available host addresses.
Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM)
A technique used in computer networking to divide a network into subnets of varying sizes, optimizing IP address allocation
Classful Subnetting
An older method of dividing an IP network into smaller subnets that relies on predefined network classes (A, B, and C) and their corresponding default subnet masks
Classless subnetting
A method for dividing IP networks into smaller subnets that doesn't rely on the traditional classful IP addressing scheme
Administrtive distance (AD)
A numerical value that routers use to determine the trustworthiness of a route learned from a routing protocol. The lower the AD value, the more trustworthy the route source is considered.
