Spoon-fed values.

What are implicit statements?

Values you may infer.

What are the two key steps to paraphrasing?

Changing the vocabulary used and changing the structure of the paragraph.

What is the difference between paraphrasing and plagiarism?

Plagiarism is a direct copy of someone's work, while paraphrasing is an elevated/different text with the same core meaning.

What is summarizing?

A reduced version of a text that captures its key words and phrases.

What is skimming?

Reading quickly through a passage or article in order to gain an overall understanding of context (using context clues).

What is scanning?

Reading sections of the passage more closely once you’ve established the overall meaning by skimming, in order to understand the most important points related to the overall meaning.

What are guide books?

Pieces of texts that introduce a destination, its amenities, sights to see, travel tips, and advice.

What writing style?

A style of expressing yourself in writing. It is determined by its aim, voice, audience, vocabulary, tone, and sentence structure.
