The US would provide funding to struggling European nations

The US’s efforts to stop the spread of communism

The divide between East and Western Europe, East being communist and West being democratic

Domino Theory

Political changes in one country can spread to others

Berlin Airlift

Plan between US and Great Britain to send food and supplies in planes to West Berlin as the USSR was suffocating them

Red Scare

The West’s fear of communism

McCarthyism

Involved the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper evidence. This led to the persecution of individuals suspected of being communists, resulting in ruined careers, blacklisting, and widespread fear in American society.

United Nations

Organization between many countries that promote peace, human rights, etc.

Warsaw Pact

Alliance between USSR and many Eastern countries

Countries dependent on and dominated by the USSR
