A sentence, which conveys a complete idea, thought, and feeling.
Declarative Sentence
A sentence that gives information about something; e.g., 'I am a student.'
Interrogative Sentence
A sentence used to ask a question.
Imperative Sentence
A sentence used to pass an order, command, or request.
Exclamatory Sentence
A sentence used to express emotional feelings or surprise.
Simple Sentence
A sentence that contains only one principal clause.
Complex Sentence
A sentence consisting of one principal clause and one or more dependent clauses.
Compound Sentence
A sentence that includes two or more principal clauses joined by coordinating conjunctions.
Compound-Complex Sentence
A sentence that contains two or more principal clauses and one or more dependent clauses.
Function-based sentence types
Categories of sentences based on their purpose, such as declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory.
Clause
A group of words containing a subject and a predicate, which can be independent or dependent.
Principal Clause
An independent clause that can stand alone as a sentence.
Coordinating Conjunction
A conjunction that joins two or more equal elements in a sentence.
Correlative Conjunction
Pairs of conjunctions that work together to coordinate two elements.
Conjunctive Adverb
An adverb used to connect two independent clauses.
Semi-colon
A punctuation mark used to connect closely related independent clauses.
