What is a union of events?
A union of events is when events A or B can happen, or BOTH of the events can take place simultaneously
What is an intersection of events?
An intersection of events is when both events A and B can happen as the same time.
What are mutually exclusive events?
Mutually exclusive events are events that cannot happen at the same time.
What is the complement of an event?
A complement of an events is all the outcomes that are not part of the event. All the things that can happen when the event doesn’t.
What is the rule of complements?
P(A) + P(Ac) = 1
What is the additive rule for the probability of mutually exclusive events?
P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B)
What is the additive rule for the probability of any two events?
P(A∪B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B)
