Mass
Measured in kilograms (kg).
Length
Measured in metres (m).
Speed
Measured in metres/second (m/s).
Acceleration
Measured in metres/second squared (m/s²).
Force
Measured in newtons (N).
Time
Measured in seconds (s).
Gravitational Field Strength
Measured in newton per kilogram (N/kg).
Scalar Quantity
A physical quantity that has magnitude only.
Vector Quantity
A physical quantity that has both magnitude and direction.
Resultant Force
The single force that represents the combined effect of all acting forces.
Weight
The force acting on a body due to gravity, calculated as mass times gravitational field strength.
Newton's Third Law of Motion
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Work Done
The product of force applied and distance moved in the direction of that force.
Power
The rate at which work is done or energy is transferred.
Current
The flow of electric charge, measured in amperes (A).
Charge
Measured in coulombs (C).
Voltage
Potential difference measured in volts (V).
Resistance
Measured in ohms (Ω).
Momentum
The product of mass and velocity of an object.
Terminal Velocity
The constant speed reached by an object falling through a fluid when drag forces equal the weight.
Energy Transfer
The conversion of energy from one form to another.
Kinetic Energy
Energy possessed by an object due to its motion, calculated as ½ mv².
Gravitational Potential Energy
Energy possessed by a body due to its height in a gravitational field, calculated as mgh.
Algebraic equation for force
Resultant force = mass Ă— acceleration.
Conservation of Charge
Charge cannot be created or destroyed; total charge in a closed system remains constant.
