Size principle of motor unit recruitment
motor unit use is related to size and ease of triggering an action potential
Key points of SPoMUR
the smaller the soma, the easier to recruit
Slow units have smaller bodies
Slower units will be recruited first
ST vs FT
Once fatigue occurs then fibre produces no force
Some ST can produce virtually unlimited contraction- postural muscles
Some FT can only produce 1 contraction
Training implications
rather than train energy systems, we should train movements
Functional training
