The process of skimming a text to locate key ideas before careful reading.
Definition of Free Writing
A technique where the author writes thoughts quickly and continuously without worrying about form, style, or grammar.
What is a Graphic Organizer?
A visual presentation of concepts that helps structure information into organizational patterns.
Listing
When writing down ideas and make a connection by associating similar ideas with color-coded circles or underlined
dominant themes and link these with lines to show the relations of each.
Topical Organizer
This technique allows the writer to map out their ideas.
Venn Diagram
A technique using overlapping circles to show similar and contrasting characteristics of concepts.
What is a Topic Outline?
A process of writing down specific topics using phrases only, to organize ideas and stay on topic.

A sentence that expresses the main idea of the paragraph in which it occurs.
