Power
The rate at which work is performed, calculated as Power = Work / Time.
Watt
A unit of power, where 1 W = 6.12 kpm.
Horsepower
A unit of power equivalent to 745.7 W or 10.69 kcal.
Kilopond-meter
A measure of work where 1 kpm = 0.163 W.
Work measurement
To calculate power, we need to know the work produced and the time taken.
Ergometry
The measurement of work output.
Ergometer
A device used to measure work.
Bench step ergometer
An ergometer used for measuring work output during step exercises.
Cycle ergometer
A stationary cycle that allows accurate measurement of work performed.
Arm ergometer
An ergometer used to measure upper body work output.
Treadmill
An ergometric device used for measuring work while walking or running.
Total work produced calculation
To calculate, multiply the force produced by the distance traveled.

1 watt = 0.0569 per minute or 0.86 kcal per hour.
Cycle Ergometer work example
Using a 1.5 kp resistance with a distance of 6 m per revolution for 60 revolutions per minute for 10 minutes.
