He did not answer them. He did not have time.

Preciosa had several letters and cards and wanted to put them in the mailbox while they were downtown.
Preciosa tenía varias cartas y tarjetas y quería echarlas en el buzón mientras estaban en el centro.
He put stamps on the letters and cards, but Cacahuate told him they could go into the post office and ask someone where they could find a pharmacy.

Since they had no shaving cream in town, Preciosa and Cacahuate could not shave. They decided they were never, ever going to shave.
¡Caramba! Como no tenían crema de afeitar en el pueblo, Preciosa y Cacahuate no pudieron afeitarse. Decidieron que nunca jamás iban a afeitarse.
