Preciose and Cacahuate went to the city.

They walked to a gas station.

Fueron a pie a una estación de servicio.

Vieron a un hombre que llenaba el tanque con gasolina y le preguntaron…

They saw a man filling up his tank with gasoline and asked him…

Do you know if there is a pharmacy around here?

¿Sabe Ud. si hay una farmacia por aquí?

The man was wearing shorts and had a tennis racket.

El hombre llevaba pantalones cortos y tenía una raqueta de tenis.

He did not answer them. He did not have time.

No les respondió. No tenía tiempo.

Preciosa had several letters and cards and wanted to put them in the mailbox while they were downtown.

Preciosa tenía varias cartas y tarjetas y quería echarlas en el buzón mientras estaban en el centro.

He put stamps on the letters and cards, but Cacahuate told him they could go into the post office and ask someone where they could find a pharmacy.

Puso sellos en las cartas y las tarjetas, pero Cacahuate le dijo que podían entrar en el correo y preguntarle a alguien dónde podían encontrar una farmacia.

So, Preciosa and Cacahuate went on foot to the post office and Preciosa sent her letters and cards.

Por eso, Preciosa y Cacahuate fueron a pie al correo y Preciosa envió sus cartas y tarjetas.

They asked a man where they could find a pharmacy, but he told them, "I forgot".

Le preguntaron a un hombre dónde podían encontrar una farmacia, pero él les dijo: “Se me olvidó”.

They stayed downtown and went to the library. They still did not find the pharmacy.

Se quedaron en el centro y fueron a la biblioteca. Todavía no encontraron la farmacia.

They didn't take out books. They looked at a map.

No sacaron libros. Miraron un mapa.

They wanted to take the map out of the library, but they only looked at it.

Querían sacar el mapa de la biblioteca, pero solamente lo miraron.

They did not check out the map because they did not have a library card to check out books.

No sacaron el mapa porque no tenían tarjeta para sacar libros de la biblioteca.

They soon found a pharmacy on the map. They returned the map to the librarian and went on foot.

Pronto encontraron una farmacia en el mapa. Devolvieron el mapa al bibliotecario y fueron a pie.

They waited a few moments in front of the pharmacy because it was ten minutes before the pharmacy opened.

Esperaron unos momentos delante de la farmacia porque faltaban diez minutos para que la farmacia se abriera.

When it opened, they went inside and looked for the shaving cream right away.

Cuando se abrió, entraron y buscaron la crema de afeitar enseguida.

The pharmacy was bigger than a supermarket. They found toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrushes and soap.

La farmacia era más grande que un supermercado. Encontraron pasta dental, champú, cepillos de dientes y jabón.

They found golf clubs, balls and skates, but no shaving cream.

Encontraron palos de golf, pelotas y patines, pero no encontraron crema de afeitar.

They asked the sales clerk where the shaving cream was, but she wouldn't listen to them.

Preguntaron a la dependienta dónde estaba la crema de afeitar, pero ella no los escuchaba.

Suddenly, the pharmacy closed. The employees pushed Cacahuate and Preciosa and closed the doors of the pharmacy.

De pronto, la farmacia se cerró. Los empleados empujaron a Cacahuate y a Preciosa y cerraron las puertas de la farmacia.

They closed them so fast that they hit Cacahuate in the foot.

Las cerraron tan rápido que golpearon a Cacahuate en el pie.

Cacahuate and Preciosa had to go to a doctor's office.

Cacahuate y Preciosa tuvieron que ir al consultorio de un médico.

Preciosa and Cacahuate did not want to stay downtown. The next day they decided to go to a small town because they did not like cities. They went to the bank.

Preciosa y Cacahuate no querían quedarse en el centro. Al día siguiente decidieron ir a un pueblo pequeño porque a ellos no les gustaban las ciudades. Fueron al banco.

They waited a long time because there were a lot of people there. They waited until three o'clock in the afternoon and cashed a big check.

Esperaron mucho tiempo porque había mucha gente allí. Esperaron hasta las tres de la tarde y cobraron un cheque grande.

They took all their money out of the bank and soon arrived at the airport. At six o'clock in the evening they left for a small town in Guatemala.

Sacaron todo su dinero del banco y pronto llegaron al aeropuerto. A las seis de la tarde salieron para un pueblito en Guatemala.

Walking through the streets, they saw a sports team playing with balls. They saw a mother taking care of many children.

Caminando por las calles, vieron un equipo deportivo jugando con pelotas. Vieron a una mamá cuidando a muchos niños.

They liked life much more in that small town. They asked a girl if she could tell them where there was the pharmacy.

Les gustaba mucho más la vida en ese pueblo pequeño. Le preguntaron a una chica si les podía decir dónde estaba la farmacia.

"Of course not!" she answered them. The pharmacy was almost 30 miles away in another town.

“¡Cómo no!” les respondió. La farmacia estaba a casi 30 millas en otro pueblo.

she told them that there was a dentist who came on Tuesdays and that in town they had a very good bakery and a historic church, but no pharmacy.

Les dijo que había un dentista que venía los martes y que en el pueblo tenían una panadería muy buena y una iglesia histórica, pero no había farmacia.

No one in the little town sold shaving cream. "Thank you very much," they said to the girl. "You're welcome. See you soon!" she replied.

Nadie en el pueblito vendía crema de afeitar. “Muchas gracias”, le dijeron a la chica. “De nada. ¡Hasta pronto!” respondió.

Since they had no shaving cream in town, Preciosa and Cacahuate could not shave. They decided they were never, ever going to shave.

¡Caramba! Como no tenían crema de afeitar en el pueblo, Preciosa y Cacahuate no pudieron afeitarse. Decidieron que nunca jamás iban a afeitarse.
