Median
The score that falls exactly in the middle of the distribution of scores after they have been ranked from highest to lowest.
Mode
The score that occurs most often in a dataset.
Range
A measure of dispersion that is the difference between the highest and lowest scores.
Standard Deviation
A measure of dispersion that indicates how much the scores in a sample differ from the mean in the sample.
Inferential Statistics
Mathematical methods that are used to indicate whether the data sufficiently support a research hypothesis.
Confidentiality
Researchers are responsible for keeping all of the data they gather on individuals completely confidential and, when possible, completely anonymous.
Debriefing
After the study has been completed, the researchers should inform the participants of its purpose and the methods they used.
