Circle

A set of all points on a plane that are a fixed distance from the center.

Chord

A segment where both endpoints are on the circle.

Diameter

A type of chord that passes through the center of the circle.

Secant

A line with 2 points on the circle.

Radius

The distance from the center to any point on the circle.

Tangent

A line that touches the circle at 1 point of tangency (always perpendicular to the radius).

Coplanar Circles

Circles that lie on the same plane.

Major Arc

An arc that measures more than 180 degrees.

Minor Arc

An arc that measures less than 180 degrees.

Semi-circle

An arc where the measure of the central angle is 180 degrees.

Central Angle

The angle formed by two radii in a circle.

Arc Measure

The measure of an arc is equal to the measure of its corresponding central angle.

Center of Circle

The point (h, k) that serves as the center of the circle.

Point of Intersection

The point (x, y) where two or more geometric figures intersect.

Parent Function

The equation x^2 + y^2 = r^2 representing a circle with radius r.

Standard Form

The equation (x - h)^2 + (y - k)^2 = r^2 representing a circle with center (h, k) and radius r.
