Meg, Jo. (greeting them)
What’s up, Laurie?
Hey Lil A, what are you working on?
I’m trying some watercolors.
(reconsiders) It really would. Thanks, Laurie, we’d love to go.
I want to come! Jo, you said that I could come with you the next time you went to see a movie!
Amy, this is different. Meg and I were invited.
Laurie wouldn’t mind if I came too!
And he just said it was a rated R horror film. This is not the right trip for you.
I’m 13! You always say I can go to the next one and you always leave me out!
Amy, sugar, listen, you need to let these girls go out with these boys and not get in the middle of it.
(still yelling) But they always say I can go next time and then they never let me go! It’s not fair! Jo, you always leave me out!
What’s all this yelling in here? (everyone quiets) Amy, honey, come talk to me. What’s going on?
Marmee, this is every time I try to hang out with them! They always rain check or find a way to turn me down!
Amy, honey, this isn’t the right movie, but…
UUUUGGGHHH. It’s SO UNFAIRRRRRRR (she stomps offstage to her bedroom)
Bye girls! Have fun! (Jo and Meg exit; Amy enters from offstage, secretly angry) Hey, my girl, come sit with me. (she does) Honey, I know this is disappointing, but this wasn’t the right time. The boys had already bought the tickets. Should they have let you sit off alone? Or should one of the boys have sat alone? I know you feel left out, but you’ll have your time.
okay, Marmee
I’m working on a puzzle in my room. Want to come help me with it?
I’ll just stay out here and draw, Marmee.
Okay, honey
Still logged in? Hmm. Well, if she’d rather go to the movies than work on her videos, maybe we should just delete those from the hard drive. And I don’t know why she needs to have a YouTube account anyway... or TikTok for that matter. Delete account...yes.
Amy! You’re still up! We expected you to be asleep by now. But I’m glad to see you. Meg and I both feel really bad about you not being able to go tonight, but since the boys paid for everything, we still have some “fun” money saved up and we wanted to take you to see a movie tomorrow. Sonic could be fun (Amy glares) OR… I bet we could sneak you into the Harley Quinn movie. It looks like a movie you’d like. (Amy brightens at this, but remembers what she’s done)
Really? That would be cool.
Maybe…(click, clack) … (click clack again)... why is my password not working (reads screen closer) What do you mean there’s no account?!? How could…wait. I was working on the video right before I left and Meg called me out the door. And I left it open. And logged in. (she is trying to stay calm and failing) Amy?!? (Amy finally looks up from her drawings) Did you… were you on my laptop?
I got on a little bit to entertain myself while you were at the movie.
What did you do?
Well, if you couldn’t keep your word to me, then maybe you didn’t need a YouTube account.
Oh honey. What have you done?
She told me the next time she went to the movies, I could go with her! She lied!
Amy Curtis March, listen to me. Jo can’t help if she got invited to go see a movie. She offered to take you tomorrow. Jo was going to make it right with you. But you have destroyed Jo’s work in a way that is unfixable. What you have done is much worse than what your sister has done to you.
I didn’t think of it like that. Oh. Oh, Marmee. I was really cruel! I will tell her I’m sorry.
(Lights up on the March house. Marmee, Meg and Beth are sitting down to breakfast. Jo joins them. Amy comes in behind Jo).
Jo, I’m so sorry. I was angry and I messed up. I went too far. I know I can never make it up to you.
No, Marmee, I won’t. I can never get those old videos back. She completely destroyed all my work: the Peter Pan, The Christmas Carol. Gone. Forever. I’ll never forgive her. (she walks off. Marmee lets her)
Marmee, I said I was sorry.
Amy, sometimes sorry isn’t enough. You’re going to have to be brave and patient. You’ve done a pretty horrid thing. Be the sweet Amy I know you can be.
Yes, Marmee. Actually, I think I have an idea
light down upstage, lights up downstage on Amy)
Hey guys! I just want to say to everyone everywhere that I was horrible to my big sister Jo and I deleted all these great videos she made, so I’m coming to you today to do the tide pod challenge so she has a new great video to get tons of new likes and follows.
