Free will definition
idea that humans can make choices and are not determined by biological/external forces. Have conscious control over our lives.
Approaches that support free will
Humanistic- idea that humans have free will and strive for self actualization.
Cognitive-humans have some sort of control over actions.
Strengths
studies and theories- robert et al found adolescents with a belief in fatalism were more likely to develop depression. Free choice has positive psychological beliefs.
weakness
we are conscious of our decisions. Chun siong soon et al found brain activity could be predicted. found free will is unconscious therefore free will isnt real.
