Summarize the XYZ Affair
The XYZ affair started when we made an alliance with Great Britain. After this, the French ordered attacks on American ships. The French seized and confiscated goods from over 300 American ships. America tried to make peace with the French, but they **refused to meet with our negotiators. Adams changed the names of the French agents to X, Y, and Z. Hence, the bribe attempt became known as the XYZ Affair.**

Explain the results of the Lewis and Clark Expedition
President Jefferson asked Congress for funding to explore the Louisiana Territory. He commissioned the Corps of Discovery, a special army unit designed for exploration, to lead the expedition, and selected Captain Meriwether Leis as its leader. Lewis chose Lieutenant William Clark to be his second in command.
