It’s never too late to get ahead for back to school shopping & as a very recent graduate I felt the need to go scouting for prime day dorm necessities. I tapped into my underclassmen days to remember the products that were (and definitely were NOT) worth it, to make sure I can find you guys the best Prime Day college shopping deals.
I love to shop deals as much as the next person, but we are too smart to fall for false deals in 2024. As you’re shopping today, make sure to use an Amazon price tracker to make sure that the deal is ACTUALLY a deal. I like to use CamelCamel, but there’s a ton of extensions you can also use on chrome to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible.
Well I really shouldn’t have to explain this one… you will 100% need a bedding set and it typically works out cheaper if you buy in as a set instead of individually. The reviews sold me on this one!

Dorm Room beds are notorious for being extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. Trust me, the last thing you need in college is sleepless nights that leads to exhausting days. A solid mattress topped will last you years.

If you’ve been inside a dorm room at any point in your life, you know fairy light are the way to go. Nobody likes that big white light, so putting up some cheap fairy lights will transform the aura of your dorm room & make you feel more at home.

This is one of those niche things you won’t understand until you’er actually at college. A super long cable to charge your phone if very handy cause the outlet won’t always be near your bed and extension cord are banned in more dorms.

If you plan to put anything up on your wall you’ll need command hooks. They usually get harder to find in August when everyone’s buying them so stock up earlier.

Communal showers are an experience… make it less scary with some preparation.
One set of towels won’t cut it in college, make sure to have 2 or 3 sets you can cycle through. That way, when one is in the wash, you can use the other .

You’ll be walking around a lot so make sure to invest in a sturdy backpack that’s got a tech pouch to keep your devices safe. I personally love this one that I bought as a freshman and used all 4 years of college.

Check to see if your dorm comes with a chair for the desk or not. If it doesn’t, stock up on a desk chair. You’ll be spending a lot of time on it so don’t cheap out.

A good set of noise cancelling headphones will get you though lectures, sitting on the bus and your workouts for years to come.
