what are biotic factors
living factors e.g woodland or plants
what are abiotic factors
non-living factors e.g rainfall or temp
BIOTIC factors affecting communities
living organisms compete for factors such as food, space and breeding partners
ABIOTIC factors affecting communities p1 2
LIGHT INTENSITY- greater the light, greater the success of the plant growth for consumption of living organisms
TEMPERATURE- greater effect on enzymes that control metabolic reaction. Plants develop rapidly in warmth as their metabolism will be faster
ABIOTIC factors affecting communities p2 2
MOISTURE LEVEL-lack of water=death for most species + most plants will wilt as water keeps cells turgid and the plant upright
SOIL pH- affects soil availability to certain minerals e.g some plants grow in Acidic soils (pH below 7) and some grow in Alkaline soils (pH above 7)
