Pathogens
Disease-causing agents that may be viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites.
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI)
An infection caused by a pathogen, transmitted through sexual contact, infected body fluids, sharing contaminated needles, skin-to-skin contact, or from mother to baby during pregnancy or childbirth.
HPV
Human Papillomavirus, an STI that can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact.
Asymptomatic
A state where an infected person displays no symptoms or mild symptoms.
Abstinence
Refraining from sexual activity, which is the most effective way to prevent STIs.
Mutual Faithfulness
Monogamy in committed relationships, practiced as a way to prevent STIs.
HIV
A life-threatening STI for which there is no cure, though treatment allows individuals to live long, healthy lives.
