Extended Definition Essay
An essay in which the primary objective across multiple paragraphs or the entire text is defining an important term.
Code Switching
The practice of shifting between formal standard language and informal dialects, tones, or slang depending on the context and company.
Sympathy
Understanding and feeling for someone because you have personally experienced a similar situation or been in their shoes.
Empathy
The ability to understand and feel for someone else's emotions or struggles even if you have not experienced that exact situation yourself.
Cultural Empathy
The capacity to feel for, relate to, and understand people from different cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
