Element
consists of atoms of only ONE type; a PURE substance
Molecule
Two or more atoms bonded together
Compound

Matter
Anything that has MASS and takes up space (VOLUME)
Mass
A measure of how much MATTER an object is made of
Weight
The force of GRAVITY on an object
Volume
The amount of SPACE an object takes up
Density
How much matter in a given space ( D = Mass/Volume)
g/cm³ or kg/m³.
Solid
The state of matter with a definite shape and volume
Liquid
The state of matter that has a definite volume but no definite shape; it takes the shape of its container.
Gas
The state of matter that has no definite shape or volume
Plasma
The fourth state of matter - lightening, neon and stars are examples
Freezing
A change in state from a liquid to a solid state
Melting
The change in state from a solid to a liquid
Boiling
100 degrees Celsius/ 212 degrees Fahrenheit (liquid is changing to a gas at that temperature)
Evaporating
The change of state from a liquid to a gas
Condensation
The change of state from gas to a liquid (dew)
Deposition
The change in state from a gas to a solid (frost)
Sublimation
A change in state from a solid DIRECTLY to a gas (dry ice)
