Liar--> He knows he isn't what he says he is

Lunatic--> He thinks he is Son of God but isn't

Lord--> Jesus is what he says he is, he is the Son of God

Unfounded--> He didn't exist or didn't mean what he said.

Why did Jesus come into the world?

To save us from sin and death

What is originial holiness? What are the effects of original holiness?

The original state of human beings in their relationship with God, sharing in the divine life in full communion with him. Effects included superior knowledge, self-control, and immortality.

What is sanctifying grace?

The grace that heals our human nature wounded by sin and restores us to friendship with God by giving us a share in the divine life of the Trinity. It is a supernatural gift of God, infused into our souls by the Holy Spirit, that continues the work of making us holy.

Why did God create?

To share in his glory, goodness, and love.

Why did God make human beings?

God made humans to know him, to love him, and to serve him in this life and be with him in the next.

What is original justice?

The original state of complete communion and harmony with God between Adam and Eve before the fall.

How did God create the universe?

"Ex Nihilio" out of nothing. He spoke it into existence.

What does the Creed mean by God is "One"

There is only ONE God, he is not in competition with other gods.

What does the Creed mean by God is "Father"

He is a person, he is relational.

What does the Creed mean by God is "Almighty"

Omnipotent--> All powerful, there are no other beings greater than him. He is supreme.

Omnisicent--> All knowing.

Omnipresent--> He is everywhere.

What does the Creed mean by God is "Creator"

He is the source and origin of all that exists.

What does it mean that man is created in God's "image and likeness"

Man is a person, has intellect and will, an immortal soul, and inherent dignity.

What are angels?

Created spirits without bodies.

How do Angels help us?

Praying for us, Act as Messengers from God to us, and serving as Guardian angels.

What are the different ranks of angels from greatest to least?

Cherubim, Seraphim, Archangels, and Angels and Archangels.

Who are the three guardian angels? What do they do?

St Michael--> Warrior angel who battles against the devil.

St Gabriel--> A messenger angel of God's good news.

St Raphael-->A healing angel for spiritual and physical wounds.

Who receives a guardian angel?

Every single human being.

Did God create the fallen angels as evil from the start? Explain the fall of the fallen angels?

No, they were angels who rejected God's mercy and committed the sin of pride, the first sin, and now have become demons.

What is Pride (The first sin committed by the rebel angels)

To think of oneself as greater than one actually is.

What is another name for fallen angels?

demons

Do fallen angels have the ability to repent and go back to heaven? Why or why not?

No, because they are fully aware of their actions and the consequences of those actions. They will suffer eternal punishment and separation from God.

How do fallen angels harm us?

Ordinarily--> Demons harm us by tempting us to sin and turn away from God.

Extra-Ordinarily--> Demons can exercise greater control over us if we allow them to.

What is the definition of temptation? What are the sources of temptation?

The invitation to commit sin or some kind of evil. The sources are the world, the flesh, and the devil.

How do we fight against fallen angels?

Be in the state of sanctifying grace, pray (especially to Christ and the Blessed Mother), avoid occult activity and false religion, and receive the sacraments often.

Describe in detail the original sin.

The Original Sin was pride and disobedience, the rebel angels went against God's love and were cast out of heaven.

What are the 3 effects of the Original Sin? List and define each of them.

Ignorance—> The inability to know God easily or well and an unawareness of God's presence.

Concupiscence—> A strong inclination to sin.

Mortality—> The reality of pain, suffering, and death.

What does it mean that human beings are born in Original Sin and do not have sanctifying grace?

That we lack the grace that Adam and Eve had with God before the Fall. We must receive Baptism to free us from the effects of Original Sin.

What is the Protoevangelium? Describe it in detail.

"First Gospel", Genesis 3:15 "I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers." This is God's announcement of a Savior, Jesus Christ. The woman is Eve and the offspring is Humanity. Symbolically Mary is the woman and the offspring is Jesus.

What does it mean that the "wage of sin is death"

Someone or something must die to "pay the price" and "bridge the gap" created by sin.

Define Sacrifice

The offering of a visible object.

How does sacrifice take place?

The object is effected by a transformation or destruction.

Why offer sacrifice?

To acknowledge the greatness of God.

Abraham was to sacrifice his son, Issac.

How does the sacrifice of Abraham take place?

Abraham was to kill Issac atop Mount Moriah, ultimately it was stoped by God. Instead, Abraham and Issac sacrificed a ram.

Why did the Sacrifice of Abraham take place?

To test Abraham's faith and obedience to God by sacrificing his son.

What is the Passover sacrifice?

The Israelites are to sacrifice a lamb for each house.

How does the Passover sacrifice take place.

After killing the lamb and roasting it, its blood was to be spread on the doorpost of every Israelite home. The angel of death would "Passover" and spare their first born son.

To free the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and to allow them to return to the promised land.

Her "yes" reverses the "no" of original sin.

The belief that Jesus is one person with 2 natures, human and divine.

When and where did the dogma of the Hypostatic Union be defined?

Why did the Incarnation happen?

The original sin was committed by man and so man must "pay the price" of sin. Only God, who is infinite, could atone for the sins of human history: past, present, and future.
