English Grammar Revision: Can, Could, and Simple Past

Could

A verb used to express an ability or something a person was able to do in the past.

Simple Past

A verb tense used to describe an action that occurred in the past and has already finished.

Regular Verbs

Verbs in the simple past that are formed by adding '-ed' to the base form (e.g., 'play' becomes 'played').

Irregular Verbs

Verbs in the simple past that do not receive '-ed', but instead change their word form (e.g., 'go' becomes 'went').

Did

An auxiliary verb used to form questions in the simple past using the structure: DID + person + normal verb.

Didn't

The negative auxiliary form used in the simple past followed by the normal (base) form of the verb.
