History
The study of past events, often defined as a chronological record of significant occurrences affecting a nation or institution.
Primary Source
A source that provides direct or firsthand evidence about an event, object, person, or work of art, originating from the time of the event.
Secondary Source
A source that provides secondhand accounts or interpretations of primary sources, created by someone who did not directly experience the events.
Artifact
An object remaining from a particular period, made or modified by humans for specific purposes.
Ecofact
Natural remains that have not been deliberately shaped but may have been used or deposited by human activity.
External Criticism
The process used to determine the authenticity and reliability of historical sources.
Internal Criticism
The evaluation of the credibility and context of a source, focusing on the content of the source.
Misinformation
False information that is disseminated without the knowledge that it is false.
Disinformation
False information deliberately created and shared to mislead and deceive.
Malinformation
Information based on reality but used to cause harm.
Tests of Authenticity
Procedures that assess the genuineness of a source, including authorship, time, and context of the event encompassed by the source.
Yellow Journalism
A style of journalism that sensationalizes news stories to attract readers.
Credibility
The quality of being trusted and believed in; crucial for evaluating the reliability of historical sources.
Historical Data Papers
Important documents housed in the National Library of the Philippines that provide insights into historical events.
Barangay
A political unit in pre-colonial Philippines, serving as a local council, which evolved into higher councils due to increasing membership and other factors.
KKK
Kataas-taasang Kagalang-galangan Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan, a revolutionary society in the Philippines that fought for independence from Spanish rule.
