Describe the preparation
There is a brownish, well-demarcated tumor that has many grayish foci.
These foci may be psammoma bodies or necrosis.
There is blank ink on the edges of the slices. This ink is used to show the resection margin.
“Velvet-Like”, “fine” pattern.
The Thyroid Carcinoma can be found in the center and between the tumors we can see fibrosis.
What other types of Carcinomas Exist ?
80% are Papillary tumors: good prognosis even if it metastasizes
10% are Follicular tumors
1-2% are Medullary tumors Neuroendocrine tumor
1% are Anaplastic tumors: mainly effecting the elderly
