Jeremiah basically instructs the people to get comfortable in exile because they are going to be there for a while. He instructs them to build houses, grow food, marry and have children, and settle and prosper in the city. They should know that God had not forgotten them.

Ezekiel prophesied after the defeat of Israel and the people were in need of encouragement because they believed the Lord had forsaken and left them. The dry bones represent the people of Israel and He will breathe life back into them, put his Spirit in them, and bring them back to the land of Israel.
