Acupuncture Points

Specific sites through which the Qi of the Zang-fu organs and meridians is transported to the body surface.

Meridian Points

Points located along the twelve main meridians, Governor Vessel, and Conception Vessel.

Extra Points

Experiential points with specific names and locations, not attributed to the fourteen meridians; seen as counterparts of meridian points.

Ashi Points

Also known as reflecting points, unfixed points, or tender spots; represent the earliest stage of acupuncture points evolution.

Middle Finger Measurement

The distance between the two medial ends of the creases of the interphalangeal joints, equivalent to one cun.

Thumb Measurement

The width of the interphalangeal joint of the thumb, considered to be one cun.

Four Finger Measurement

The width of four fingers close together, which equals three cun.

5 Shu Points

Points located from the distal end of extremities up to the elbow or knees classified into five types: Jing Well, Ying Spring, Shu Stream, Jing River, and He-Sea.

Lower He-Sea Points

Points that treat Zang Fu disorders.

Yuan Primary Points

Points that also treat Zang Fu disorders.

Luo Connecting Points

Points that treat interior & exterior related meridians.

Xi Cleft Points

Points that treat acute disorders & Zang Fu related meridians.

Eight Confluent Points

Points that treat disorders related to the 8 extra meridians.

Back Shu Points

Points that treat internal organ disorders.

Front Mu Points

Points that also treat internal organ disorders.

Crossing Points

Points that treat local meridian disorders.

Eight Influential Points

Points that treat Zang Fu, Qi/Blood, Tendon/Vessel, Bone/Marrow disorders.

Hand Taiyin

Meridian associated with the Lung, treats lung and throat.

Hand Jueyin

Meridian associated with the Pericardium, treats heart and stomach.

Hand Shaoyin

Meridian associated with the Heart, treats heart.

Hand Yangming

Meridian associated with the Large Intestine, treats forehead, face, nose, mouth, and teeth.

Hand Shaoyang

Meridian associated with the Triple Burner, treats temporal & hypochondriac regions.

Hand Taiyang

Meridian associated with the Small Intestine, treats occipital & scapular regions, and mental illness.

Foot Taiyin

Meridian associated with the Spleen, treats spleen and stomach.

Foot Jueyin

Meridian associated with the Liver, treats liver.

Foot Shaoyin

Meridian associated with the Kidney, treats kidney, lung, and throat.

Foot Yangming

Meridian associated with the Stomach, treats face, mouth, teeth, throat, stomach, and intestine.

Foot Shaoyang

Meridian associated with the Gall Bladder, treats ear, temporal, and hypochondriac regions.

Foot Taiyang

Meridian associated with the Urinary Bladder, treats neck and dorsal-lumbar regions.

Conception Vessel

Also known as Ren, treats collapse, Yang prolapse, and general tonification.

Governor Vessel

Also known as Du, treats apoplexy, coma, febrile disease, and head/face disorders.
