Thinking
A purposeful and organized cognitive process that we use to make sense of our world.
Critical thinking
The ability to think rationally about what to do or what to believe which includes the ability to engage in reflective thinking to analyse information and reach a conclusion or answer by using logical or reasoning skills.
Gathering
Bringing to the conscious mind the relative information needed for cognitive processing.
Organising
Arranging information so it can be used more effectively.
Analysing
Breaking down information by examining parts and relationships so that its organizational structure may be understood.
Connecting
Making connections between related items or pieces of information.
Integrating
Connecting and combining information to better understand the relationship between the information.
Compiling
Putting parts together to form a whole or building a structure or pattern from diverse elements.
Evaluating
Assessing the practicality and quality of ideas or materials on order to present and defend opinions.
Generating
Producing new information, ideas, products or ways of viewing things.
Foundation of Knowledge
The original knowledge upon which new knowledge is built, made up of the facts, theories, principles, methods, skills, terminology, and modes of reasoning essential to advanced learning.
Attitude (Barrier)
A self-centred / social / cultural-centred thinking that may hinder critical thinking by prompting a preference for self-flattering errors to unpleasant realities.
Bias / Prejudice
An assumption or an opinion about someone simply based on that person's membership to a particular group.
Open Mind
A willingness to listen to or accept different ideas or opinions, often identifying people who are intellectually curious, creative and imaginative.
Multi Perceptions
Concurrent stimulation in more than one sensory system on the perception of events and objects in the world.
Defensible Decision
Recording a clear rationale for all the decisions made and the discussions that led to the decisions, including reference to relevant legislation.
Confidence
An acceptance and trust towards your skills or abilities and having a sense of control in your life.
