FERA - federal emergency relief adminstration
offered federal money to state/local govts that operated soup kitchens and relief for the jobless/homeless
CCC - civilian conservation corps

NYA - national youth administration
employed young people in school until they could find a job with a private employer
WPA - works progress administration
employed skilled and unskilled workers in projects - most were public works projects like roads and parks
HOLC - homeowner’s loan corporation
provided refinancing of small homes, preventing foreclosures
recovery programs
AAA, NIRA, TVA
AAA - agricultural adjustment act
offered to pay farmers to not produce as much by paying subsidies for every acre of unused farmland
NIRA - national industrial recovery act
created national recovery administration which helped each industry set codes for wages, work hours, levels of production, and prices for finished goods
TVA - Tennessee valley authority
employed thousands in the Tennessee valley area to work on dams, operate electric power plants, control flooding and erosion, and manufacture fertilizer
