Area that people believe exists as part of their cultural identity. More likely than other regions to change over time (based off of stereotypes, perception).

Typically, the farther away one group is fro another, the less likely the two groups are to interact.

Belief that physical environment causes or guides social development

Possibilism

Environment may affect social development, but that people can react to and master their surroundings regardless of the challenges.

Sustainability

Development that benefits the present generation w/out compromising natural resources.

Site

Physical characteristics of a place.

Situation

Location of a place relative to other places.

Geospatial/ Geographic Data

Any data with a geographic aspect that refers to a position on earth and its relation to other places.

Remote-sensing

Acquisition of data about Earth's surface from a satellite orbiting Earth or from other long-distance methods.

Geographic Information System

A computer system that captures, stores, analyses, and displays geographic data stored in layers.

(GPS) System that accurately determines the precise position of something on earth.

Space-Time Compression

The reduction in time it takes for something to reach another place (not literally in miles).
