The rush hour lane

To keep traffic flowing on a motorway at certain locations or during certain periods of time

  • EMERGENCY LANES are used as a rush hour lane

    • white discontinuous line (10 m with 2.5 m ) separates emergency lane

    • a red cross above lane indicates that you are NOT allowed to drive there

  • If your car breaks down, you are not allowed to stop in the emergency lane—> you must try to drive on until you reach a safe and legal location

    • If the driver in front of you is driving less than the speed limit—> you are allowed to overtake on the left

In a queue, motercycles are allowed to drive:

  • at a max speed of 20 kph faster than other veh

  • When entering the moterway via the acceleration lane, you must yield the right of way ( the ppl in moterway have power you have to look for a space)

  • Drivers who have overtaken another vehicle are allowed to remain on the left for a while to facilitate a safe transition back
