They cut whole sentences and words out (a lot, basically can’t read it at all) and he can only receive 1 letter every 6 months. Also, the ones he writes doesn’t get sent out.

How is Nelson Mandela and the other prisoners treated in jail?
They were treated very poorly. They went through psychological torture such as randomly making them strip, assaulting them, screaming at them, cursing at them, saying mean things to them, acting violently, waking them up with banging on their cells with sticks and yelling that them, etc.

They were having a protest for liberation and Mandela’s daughter speaks to the crowd about Mandela and Winnie finally being able to touch each other for the first time in 21 years and how Mandela doesn’t want violence and how he got released.

Bc they are concerned that the Blacks will seek revenge when they take over and they will harm the Whites. They think that by the Blacks’ violence, they would get power and then get revenge.
