Battle of Coral Sea (May 1942)

Battle of Midway (June 1942)

This was a pivotal point in the Pacific War

Japanese planned on taking midway as a stepping stone to take Hawaii, to destroy the rest of US Navy aircraft carriers, and to take Aleutian islands.

The Japanese would lose because of indecision

Midway’s loss on Japan

Japan lost 4 aircraft carriers, had a broken naval code, lost experienced pilots, and ended with them staying on defense for the rest of the war.

Island Hopping

In 1943, the US starts island hopping by attacking at Guadacanal and take Japanese island

Nuclear War/ Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

The US retaliated with a nuclear bomb to scare the Japanese into surrendering and ending the war.
